Rumble Strips
Rumble Strips are an important safety feature of roadways as they help alert drivers that they are leaving their intended path or entering an area not intended for normal traffic.
Rumble Strips are also sometimes deployed transversely in order to slow down traffic ahead of a stop or an intersection (ex: toll plaza).
However, Rumble Stripes can result in false crack detection at their boundary if not properly handled.
Pavemetrics® Laser Crack Measurement System (LCMS®-2) Rumble Strip module solves this problem by detecting the presence of both raised and milled Rumble Strips.
Detected Rumble Strips can be automatically excluded prior to the crack detection phase resulting in significant improvements to crack reporting accuracy. Rumble strip type, location, bounding box and average depth are reported.
