Pavemetrics technology enables the automatic detection and evaluation of road features to optimize the use of road maintenance funds and to improve safety through better road surface maintenance. Our automated inspection technology is designed for both day and night time operation. It produces high resolution 2D images and 3D profiles of both asphalt and concrete road surfaces at speeds up to 100 km/h.
The Laser Crack Measurement System (LCMS) allows the automatic detection of cracks and the evaluation of rutting, macro-texture and other road surface features.
Crack detection results combined with a Pavement Management System (PMS) can be used to prioritize rehabilitation work so as to optimize road maintenance funds and to monitor the evolution of the condition of the road network over time.
Our system uses high speed cameras, custom optics and laser line projectors to acquire both 2D images and high resolution 3D profiles of the road.
It can be operated in all types of lighting conditions both during day and night. Sun and shadows as well as various pavement types ranging from dark asphalt to concrete, can be measured at survey speeds up to 100km/h and on roads reaching 4m in width.
The collected data is analyzed with our data analysis software (DLL). This software detects and analyzes cracks, lane markings, ruts, macro-texture, Curbs & Dropoff, ravelling and potholes. Cracks are classified as transverse, longitudinal or alligator and the severity is evaluated.
